The University of Iowa Foundation was organized in 1956 to help the University of Iowa meet needs beyond those provided for by state support, and to reach new levels of distinction by generating significant private gift support.
Since its founding, the UI Foundation has generated more than $2 billion in outright gifts and commitments for future gifts for the UI.
A nonprofit IRC Sec. 501(c)(3) organization, the UI Foundation is independent from the university. Located in the Levitt Center for University Advancement, the foundation employs approximately 175 people and is governed by a volunteer board of directors.
